The African International Documentary Festival Fund (AFIDFF) Southern Region is committed to advancing the documentary film industry in Southern Africa. With its headquarters in Lusaka, Zambia, AFIDFF focuses on empowering filmmakers and promoting the production of documentaries that capture the diverse narratives of the region. The Southern Region includes countries such as Zambia, South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, and Angola.

Mission
The mission of AFIDFF Southern Region is to nurture a dynamic film culture by providing financial support, educational resources, and platforms for filmmakers. The organisation aims to amplify the unique voices and stories from Southern Africa to a global audience, fostering understanding and appreciation of the region's diverse experiences.

KEY OBJECTIVES

  • Financial Support: Offer access to grants and funding opportunities for filmmakers at various stages of documentary production.
  • Capacity Building: Provide training programs, workshops, and mentorship to enhance the skills and knowledge of filmmakers.
  • Networking and Collaboration: Create opportunities for filmmakers to connect with producers, distributors, and other industry stakeholders.
  • Promotion and Distribution: Assist in marketing and distributing documentaries to reach wider audiences locally and internationally.
  • Advocacy and Awareness: Highlight the importance of documentary films in education, cultural preservation, and social change.
