AFIDFF Move to End Polio through Documentary; Lends voice to a Dreamer

The much Anticipated End polio Awareness campaign organized by the African International Documentary Festival Foundation to mark the 2018 world polio day which held on the 23rd of October 2018 ended on a high note as prevailing issues in the fight against polio were expounded and Notable talents discovered.

The event was described as a master stroke and with concerted efforts from our partners: Rotary International, National Primary Health Development Agency (NPHDA), UNICEF, WHO, USAID, Nigeria Television Authority, Voice of Nigeria (VON),  Bill and Melinda Gate foundation, Centre for Disease Control (CDC), etc., the event highlighted prevailing issues militating against the success of polio eradication  in the country.

The event also saw Miss Dorcas Bello emerging as the overall winner in the much-contested documentary Competition and L.E.A School Gwarinpa Abuja emerging as the best school in the students essay competition.

Top Dignitaries from different government agencies and private organizations graced the event even as we had NYSC members and students in attendance.

Partners and Dignitaries who attended the events commended the foundation for organizing such a wonderful event which was apt in a time like this, they also expressed satisfaction as the foundation did not disappoint in achieving the core objectives of the event. They also showered encomiums on the foundation for putting up the Documentary and essay competition as it was not just to showcase inspiring stories but also to celebrate talent, reiterating that the foundation will serve as a springboard for greatness. They pledged their support for the development and promotion of the underrepresented talented young documentary and filmmakers to tell their wonderful and inspiring African stories to the world.

Highpoint of the event was the presentation of different prizes and trophies to the winners of each category and the unveiling of the end polio song by Reggae.
