AFIDFF attends UNESCO African Regional Consultative Meeting on Cultural Policy

The African International Documentary Festival Foundation, AFIDFF, attended a 2-day online regional consultation on cultural policies for the African region organized by UNESCO from January 31st, 2022 to February 1st, 2022.

It was an Africa Regional Dialogue that deliberated extensively on the strategic policy framework, seeking to raise the commitment of Africa to Culture and the development of cultural values.

It was presided over by President Makky Sall of Sierra Leone, who doubled as Chief Host and Chair of the Forum and attended by Culture Ministers, Critical organizations, national and regional organizations (AFIDFF inclusive), and Observers across Africa.

Various submissions were made by participants at the forum, the highlight of which was the need for Member nations to ratify the 1975 UNESCO Protocol/ Charter of culture as well as challenges and opportunities for the development and review of cultural policies and the integration of culture across the public policy agenda.
