Championing the Cause of Poverty Eradication through Empowerment

In a world brimming with inequality, the African International Documentary Festival Foundation (AFIDFF) stands firm in its commitment to uplift and empower. Aligned with the United Nations' sustainable development goals, particularly the aspiration to end poverty, AFIDFF has strategically focused its efforts on creating tangible impacts in the communities we serve.

A Holistic Approach to Empowerment

Understanding the multi-faceted nature of poverty, AFIDFF has devised an approach that not only addresses immediate needs but fosters long-term growth and self-sufficiency. Key initiatives under our umbrella include:

Educational Programs: AFIDFF prioritizes access to quality education, vocational training, and entrepreneurship curriculums. By arming individuals with vital knowledge and skills, we aim to not only empower them personally but invigorate their communities by fostering innovation and sustainable practices.

Support & Development: This initiative, the heart of our operations, encompasses a broad spectrum of activities. From leadership training and mentorship for the youth to workshops focusing on gender issues, and advocacy against violence targeting the girl child. Our endeavors aim to create an environment where every individual feels valued, heard, and equipped to rise above challenges.

Community Engagement: A key component of our mission involves grassroots-level interventions. This involves promoting communal farming, awareness about micro-credit opportunities, and championing environmental campaigns to name a few

--The Sukur Restoration and Empowerment Project (SUREP): Born out of the UNESCO World Heritage Volunteers Initiative Action camp in 2021, and with generous funding from the North-East Development Commission (NEDC), AFIDFF embarked on a mission to restore the Sukur Cultural Landscape. Beyond the physical restoration, the project was a symbol of hope and rejuvenation for the Sakun people, aiming to bolster their livelihoods and reinvigorate their cultural pride.

Shining a Light on Unheard Stories

In our quest to shed light on critical issues, AFIDFF produced a poignant documentary titled “Insurgency and The Girl Child.”Aired by NTA International, this production dives deep into the devastating effects of insurgency on girls in North-East Nigeria, showcasing how conflict can intensify the shackles of poverty and disadvantage.

As we commemorate the World Day for the Eradication of Poverty, AFIDFF remains steadfast in its mission. We envision a world by 2030 where the chains of poverty are broken, and where every individual, regardless of their circumstances, has the opportunity to flourish.

We invite you to be part of this journey. Engage with our initiatives, lend your voice to our advocacy, donate, and together, let's write a story of hope, resilience, and shared progress.
