AFIDFF and SACD-Nigeria Team Up to Educate Internally Displaced Persons on Voting Rights and Good Governance in Nigeria

The African International Documentary Festival Foundation (AFIDFF) in collaboration with Strategic Action for Community Development (SACD-Nigeria) on the 9th of February 2023 visited the Internally Displaced Person’s (IDP) camp in Gurku, Nassarawa state, Nigeria for a sensitization and voter education campaign.

The aim of the campaign was to provide citizens with all the necessary information required to be active participants in the forthcoming elections and to encourage good governance practices.

During the campaign, community dwellers were taught about the right way to vote and all the acts that could make their vote invalid. They were encouraged to vote for individuals and parties based on their own choice and advised not to sell their votes or allow another person to vote on their behalf with their cards. The team provided a comprehensive overview of the electoral process, including how to register to vote, the different types of elections, and the importance of participating in the democratic process.
