AFIDFF and NTDA Strengthen Partnership to Promote Nigeria’s Tourism and Creative Industries

The African International Documentary Festival Foundation (AFIDFF) has reaffirmed its commitment to advancing Nigeria’s tourism and creative industries through strategic collaboration with the Nigerian Tourism Development Authority (NTDA).

The Director-General of AFIDFF, Ms. Malame Mangzha, led a delegation on a courtesy visit to the Director-General of NTDA, Dr. Olayiwola Awakan, to explore opportunities for partnership to promote Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage.

Discussions during the meeting focused on leveraging digital storytelling and documentary filmmaking as powerful tools to showcase Nigeria’s diverse cultural assets. Both organisations emphasized the importance of using creative media to drive domestic tourism, strengthen cultural identity, and enhance public engagement with tourism destinations nationwide.

Speaking during the visit, Ms. Mangzha highlighted the role of storytelling in preserving heritage and positioning Nigeria on the global stage.

“Documentary storytelling provides a unique opportunity to capture and share authentic African narratives. Through collaboration with key institutions like NTDA, we can amplify these stories and promote Nigeria’s cultural wealth to both local and international audiences,” she said.

In his remarks, Dr. Awakan reiterated NTDA’s commitment to partnerships that enhance tourism development and visibility.

“Strategic collaborations such as this are essential in promoting Nigeria’s tourism potential. By integrating storytelling and digital media, we can create compelling narratives that attract visitors and deepen appreciation for our cultural heritage,” he noted.

The visit concluded with both organisations expressing a shared commitment to developing initiatives that will utilize creative platforms to showcase Nigeria’s unique destinations while fostering sustainable growth within the tourism and creative sectors.
