Adamawa AGOG as AFIDFF launches SUKUR campaign. Africa's first cultural language. Governor Fintiri supports the initiative

The African International Documentary Festival Foundation together with the Nigerian National Commission for UNESCO (NATCOM) and the National Commission for Museums and Monuments (NCMM) on Thursday, 15th April 2021 visited Adamawa state for a stakeholders meeting with partners on the Sukur World Heritage Volunteers Program.

It was indeed an atmosphere of ecstasy as the Governor of Adamawa State, His Excellency, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri represented by his chief of staff Professor Maxwell Gidado expressed pleasure at the choice of Sukur as the first world heritage site in Nigeria by UNESCO. The Governor called on the people to protect cultural sites in Adamawa even as he promised to provide all logistics and security for AFIDFF to ensure the success of the WHV program holding later this year.

AFIDFF, the implementing organization for the 2021 World heritage volunteer program launched the campaign materials for the program at the meeting as the Director General, Madam Malame Mangzha working with all stakeholders involved assured the Governor of a well packaged event to promote and protect Nigeria’s first Cultural heritage site.

Madam Malame, in her remark reiterated that the programme tagged the Recovery Match for Sukur will share with Youth Volunteers, the traditional ideas, skills, technologies, and other traditional modes of production that form the bedrock of Sukur Cultural authenticity.

Also present at the Stakeholders meeting was the representative of the Director General, National Commission for Museums and Monuments, Secretary General, Nigerian National Commission for UNESCO, (NATCOM) District head of Duhu, Sukur, Gulak and Kirchinya. Hidi of Sukur, Chairman Sukur Development Association, Representative from the private sector and Chairman Sukur Youth Association.

This program is scheduled to hold in June, 2021   at Sukur, Madagali LGA, Adamawa State.
