AFIDFF  Attends the 1st BRAS9JA Festival, September 2023

The Brazilian Embassy in Nigeria celebrated the Brazil-Nigeria Cultural Week 2023, tagged BRAS9JA. The First edition of the Bras9ja Festival, which commenced from September 6th- 9th, 2023, at the Brazilian Embassy in Abuja, Nigeria.

 The festival is aimed to celebrate the shared cultures of Nigeria and Brazil, encompassing art, music, dance, religion, and various crafts. It centered around the theme of "the Art of Yoruba Spirituality." It was curated in collaboration with the Afro-Brazilian Museum of Bahia, MAFRO and was coordinated by Prof Marcelo Cunha and Priestess Marta de Sango. 

 The Ambassador, H.E Ricardo Guerra elucidated the interconnectedness of Yoruba and Brazilian cultures, highlighting their shared religious beliefs.

The festival included a guided tour of religious and cultural artifacts, followed by a screening of the film "Rainha" directed by Sabrina Fidalgo, a prominent Brazilian filmmaker. Additionally, the Abuja Literary Society delivered captivating performances

The opening day's event culminated with  a dinner,  allowing guests to savor traditional Brazilian cuisine.

The festival, which  proved to be a remarkable occasion for diplomats, national agencies, and enthusiasts of art and culture to engage in networking opportunities and foster meaningful connections,  came to a close on the 9th of September with a fashion runway by Reimagine, a poetry and jazz show, a book fair, an art exhibition by the Orisun Gallery  and the AlitFest 2023 Keynote panel.
