AFIDFF and National Park Service Sign Technical Collaboration to Advance Gashaka Gumti's World Heritage Bid

The African International Documentary Festival Foundation (AFIDFF) is proud to announce the official signing of a technical collaboration agreement with the National Park Service (NPS), marking a significant milestone in the journey to elevate Gashaka Gumti National Park to UNESCO World Heritage status.

The agreement was formalized between AFIDFF’s Director General, Malame Mangzha, and the Conservator-General of the National Park Service, Dr. Ibrahim Goni, who represented the agency.

This strategic partnership highlights a shared commitment to protecting Nigeria’s cultural and natural heritage, with a focus on promoting eco-tourism, environmental conservation, and meaningful youth engagement.

“This collaboration is more than a document; it’s a bold step towards sustainable preservation and international recognition of one of Nigeria’s most extraordinary ecological landscapes,” said Mangzha.

Through this alliance, AFIDFF and NPS will work together to strengthen local economies, empower communities, and raise global awareness of Gashaka Gumti National Park as a national treasure and future global icon.

The initiative forms part of ongoing efforts under the UNESCO World Heritage Volunteers (WHV) 2025 program, where Gashaka Gumti serves as one of three featured heritage sites in Nigeria.
